Approximately 95 law students came together January 24th and 25th, 2025 to bring a law-themed Twilight parody to life at the Myer Horowitz Theatre. Creative Director Sydney Salverda organized our acting, dance, singing, band, and backstage troupes to put on a 2.5 hour show with endless jokes, live music, and intricate dance routines.
With cameos from U of A law professors Chris Samuel and Andrew Leach, U of A law Dean Fiona Kelly, and U of A law alumni Jacob Holloway and Stephen Raitz, over 1,000 spectators came out to support and see the show over two nights. The audience watched Bella, a 3L in search of an articling position, meet Edward and Jacob, both associates at their family's firms. But in a surprising twist, Bella was murdered at the Carbolic Smoke Ball, an annual banquet put on by U of A law students. Jacob and Edward worked together to navigate the legal system and dance battled their way to finding Bella's killer, and surprisingly found love along the way.
In pursuit of our fundraising efforts, Co-Executive Producers Connor Meeker and Kate Healy led the production team to raise money for the show via ticket sales, sponsorships, and a silent auction. We are ecstatic that our fundraising efforts allowed us to donate $17,500 to Boyle Street this year!
Thank you to everyone who supported the show! Law Show 2025 would not have been such a success without your support!
